This Week's Gossip
I spent last Sunday morning enjoying breakfast with Diego in his Upper East Side brownstone mansion. I mentioned Samantha and he seemed quite pleased that she's okay after the confrontation with that drug dealer. He was hoping she might even be able to sing again this week.
It turned out that Samantha was there several nights this week. She's a very inquisitive young lady and asks a ton of questions. There's a fellow named Eric Shepard now loafing at the Four Seasons who seems to have an eye for her. They danced together one night this week and Samantha asked Mia Moore to baby sit Devin for her when she went out on a date with Eric. I do hope that situation blossoms for her.
Rachel seemed a little moody this week with Jon Bon Jovi off on tour again. We run or fast walk at Central Park almost every morning, as you know, and she said she'll be cranking up her Tuesday night plays at Creative Arts Theatre again on July tenth. They are running short of actors and actresses due to the summer vacations and such, so she's asked me to be there ready to fill in as usual. At least Kate is back and that helps.
Tammi Hanlin walked with us on Friday morning. She took a few days off over the 4th of July festivities and watched the fireworks in Atlantic City with Eoin Ryan. She just laughed when I pressed her a little regarding a potential relationship there. I told her we're not blind, we can see the attraction, but she really didn't want to talk about it.
I finally learned that Tammi's maiden name is Tattaglio, something she had never mentioned before. Her father, a Sicilian, lives in Chicago and that's where Tammi met Tom Hanlin. He was the vice president of the Teamsters there and although he was quite a bit older than her, he some how managed to win her over. With her father's blessing, she accepted Tom's proposal and they were married in a huge wedding that cost her father a fortune.
When Tom Hanlin won the presidents job in New York City they moved to Queens and that's where the trouble started. Tom was off working long hours to re-stabilize the Teamsters and Tammi started loafing at the Four Seasons, enjoying the attention of a few younger men. Tom got wind of it and assaulted Tammi over it. She shot him with his own gun when he smacked her around and threatened her with physical abuse.
That was when Diego hired her as a bookkeeper for Easy Loans and eventually named her as the manager of the wonderful Carnegie Hill Spa. I'm quite anxious to see where her new relationship with Eoin leads.
On Saturday I flew down to Pittsburgh for my mom's surprise birthday party that night. I faxed in my column from down there. I'll be spending all day Sunday with them and catching an early morning flight back on Monday.
Entertainment
This Tuesday night, July 10th at 10:00 pm ET, the Off-Broadway Creative Arts Theatre will be offering Rachel Tatellio's version of Friends - Football. It should be fun and I will be sitting in my center seat in the back row watching to see who might show up and who sits with whom.
