It was late Monday when I received the telephone call from Lindsay Davis. She gave me the name and dorm room of a Eddie Woods, a Columbia student that she's absolutely sure is the mysterious serial rapist. She said Amy had provided her with the lead and her friends had researched it, finding convincing evidence in his dorm.
Nothing was taken away and if we can move in fast we can get this guy. I contacted Nelle Porter who in turn reached Judge Gamble and the Dean of Columbia. She was able to obtain a search warrant for Woods' dorm room. We plan on first locating Eddie and following him inside so we can make the arrest. That way he can't just slip away and strike again, possibly even in a different city.

On Sunday night Amy Bilson was attacked and raped by our serial rapist. Same Modus Operandi (MO). He managed to slip in the women's dorm again, used the chloroform cloth as she unlocked her dorm room door, then had his way with her in her very own bed.
She was found on Monday by Martha Mason after she failed to attend breakfast as usual. I personally met with Amy at the Columbia Medical Clinic after they performed the normal required rape kit. The semen matched that found on the previous rapes and he once more wore that George Bush mask. Written on her bathroom mirror using her lipstick were the words, "Catch me if you can!"
Although no fingerprints were found, Jeff Mallard says they have plenty of similar body hairs and, of course, the semen to identify this maniac when we eventually catch him.
I released the fact that he struck again on my Tuesday press conference, but I didn't identify the victim.

In a stunning shift, our serial rapist used a disposable cell phone to call the NYPD late last night, ask for me, then tell me we better hurry over to Lindsay Davis' Plaza Hotel suite.
Upon arrival, we picked up hotel security who had the master keys, hurried up to the 15th floor and found Lindsay naked on her bed. She was tied spread eagle and gagged. We released her and she insisted that she was fine. It was obvious that the same rapist that raped the previous four women attacked Lindsay, but this time he left a video tape of the event.
In the audio portion he ridiculed the NYPD regarding our inability to catch him. The tape opened with her already restrained and him naked wearing that George Bush mask. We got to watch her wake up, looking totally startled, as he described his intentions to impregnate her if possible. We even heard his guttural laugh as he brought her to orgasm, saying that would increase his chances of success.
Lindsay seemed fine, but we took her over to the Columbia Medical Center for a rape kit to confirm that the semen matched. That way we're sure this wasn't some sort of copy cat rape.
We're very concerned that he's gradually becoming more aggressive and potentially more dangerous. We have to catch this maniac before he hurts somebody else.

Yesterday we received a letter that was some how dropped off at the front desk. The words were cut from a newspaper and glued to a blank sheet of paper. They said, "I love taking these lovely young women and sooner or later some of them will bare my children."
Our serial rapist has now claimed four known victims. Doris Daniels, a 20 year old Columbia University sophomore, walked in the 5th Precinct asking for me. She said she was responding to our TV news request that anyone that felt they had been attacked in a similar manor please step up and tell us when and how it happened.
Doris said that on the night of Friday July 27th she was entering her dorm room when a man covered her face with a cloth and she passed out. She woke up tied to her dorm room bed, naked and gagged. She was staring at a naked man wearing a mask, who insisted that he intended to make love to her.
She couldn't get loose or call out for help so she took the advice she'd heard when attacked like that, "lay back and relax", supposedly that might save her life and it did. The man used no protection and even whispered in her ear that he hoped she would wind up carrying his baby.
When he finished with her, he once again used the cloth to put her to sleep. When she awoke she was no longer tied or gagged. She was too embarrassed to report the affair to the police and never saw a doctor. We ran a pregnancy test and she was relieved to know his efforts were in vain. No baby.
The bad news was the next case. Ann Anderson, a 21 year old Columbia University junior who had been sharing an apartment with a senior named Walter Williamson, went in the Columbia Medical Center to determine if she was actually pregnant since she'd missed her period. They confirmed her pregnancy and at the same time identified the father of the potential child as the rapist that attacked those other three women.
We brought in her boyfriend William, questioned and tested him, and confirmed that he wasn't the father. Ann is now eight weeks pregnant and admits that she was taken in a similar manor by the serial rapist. She never reported it or even told Will what had happened because she was embarrassed, a very typical reaction to many rapes. I guess women for some reason feel guilty, or responsible for allowing it to happen. She'll be needing some therapy by a psychiatrist or a psychologist to help her deal with this.
The mayor has gotten involved and we're making every effort to track down this serial rapist. At least, so far he's not killing his victims, but I'm worried.

We are keeping the information on the rape of Tiffany Farina quiet at her request and because we don't want to alarm the entire Columbia University student body until we can garner more data.
The rape took place on Saturday August 4th around 8:00 pm EST. Janette Friday arrived home to find her roommate crying frantically. Realizing what might have happened, Jan called the 5th Precinct asking for me. She said she was afraid that Tiff had been raped and asked us to hurry over.
Olivia Benson, my normal partner, had just returned from a long vacation so I took her along with me. When we arrived we decided that Olivia might be the best person to go in the bedroom and try and calm Tiffany down. It worked. Olivia was able to get Tiffany talking.
It seems that a man slipped up behind her just as she opened the door to their apartment, used a chloroform soaked cloth to make her pass out, then carried her into her bedroom where he stripped her and tied her wrists and ankles to the bed.
When she came to, he was standing at the foot of the bed naked wearing a George Bush mask. Tiff said at first she thought if was a college student in some sort of a prank, but he used no condom and kept telling her he was going to "knock her up".
Tiffany made us promise not to tell her father, Diego Farina, or anybody else. That suits me since there's no point alerting the rapist that we're even aware that he's out there.
We took Tiffany directly to the Columbia Medical Center where Dr. Gregory House had a nurse run a rape kit test.
In the United States, a typical evidence collection process for sexual assault victims is:
A nurse explains the hospital's HIV testing procedure and why HIV testing is beneficial. The victim then decides whether or not to permit HIV testing. In many states, there is no charge to the victim for these services.
Routine blood collection is done (to check for pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases).
The nurse documents any evidence of torn clothing or external injuries and takes photographs.
The victim's clothing is collected and new clothes are provided.
Any physical evidence from the rape scene (such as grass or leaves) is also collected.
Hairs are collected: the nurse collects any loose hairs or debris in the pelvic area (looking for pubic hairs of the assailant). In some cases, some of the victim's pubic hairs are needed and 15-20 of the victim's head hairs (to differentiate the victim's hairs from the assailant's).
Fingernail scrapings are collected for detection of blood or tissue.
The nurse then examines the victim's perineum, thighs, abdomen, buttocks and facial area for evidence of semen and, if detected, it is collected.
Several slides are made and swabs taken from the vaginal, anal, and oral areas to check for semen, sexually transmitted diseases, and infections.
The hospital provides the victim with any preventive medicine necessary (for tetanus, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, etc.).
Medical personnel perform the pelvic exam. The victim may request to have the examination done by a person of the same gender.
The sexual assault kit is then sealed in a box and secured at the hospital until given to the police for further laboratory analysis. For the box to be used in criminal proceedings, it is vital that the chain of custody and the integrity of the kit is preserved.
Dr. House confirmed that Tiffany had indeed been raped. Abrasions inconsistent with consensual sex were apparent. Ms. Farina was certainly not a virgin and showed signs of recent consensual intercourse.
Semen samples were obtained and sealed for future DNA comparisons. There wasn't any bleeding found and neither party was seriously injured. Some hair particles were found and sealed for future comparisons.
Dr. House gave Tiffany a sedative and kept her overnight. She was released the following morning and attended her college classes on Monday. Olivia may call her in for further questions once Tiff has calmed down a bit, hoping she might remember more.
Jeff Mallard led the CSI team that went over Tiffany and Jan's apartment with a fine tooth comb. They took possession of all the bedding where he found hair samples that might be used in an upcoming trial. He found semen stains that matched the semen found in the rape kit. That data along with all the fingerprints he was able to find was fed into the police department's computer records of convicted rape felons, AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System), but found no instant matches. Apparently, this is a new individual.
We'll be looking for similar attacks since these are not always reported. This attack was unique since the rapist made no attempt to hide who he was, leaving evidence all over the place and even telling his victim he wanted to impregnate her. These are the signs of a seriously mentally ill individual, one that has possibly done this before and will no doubt try and succeed again.
