This Week's Gossip
Last weekend I was in London, England with Diego to watch the New York Giants play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. We spent Friday traveling, Saturday touring London, followed by seeing a clever play regarding a murder that night. It was a famous Agatha Christie mystery called "The Mousetrap" that has been running in the West End for over 50 years.
The play is your regular ‘who dun it’ mystery. Eight people are snowed in at a guest house: Mollie and Giles Ralston, the owners; four invited guests, each with eccentric characteristics; the unexpected guest, who turns up out of the blue after his car overturns in the snow storm; and finally a skiing detective. Once everyone has arrived it is not long before a murder takes place and the detective assembles all the guests together and interrogates them one by one. Each avoid the truth, some by silence and others by lies. Can the murderer be caught before more deaths happen? Go see it and find out.
Sunday we enjoyed brunch with a few of Diego's friends then attended the game which was played at around 6:00 in the evening, 1:00 pm New York City time. It poured down rain and they played in the mud, one heck of a mess. Our Giants prevailed, extending their record to six wins and two losses and they are now in second place in the NFC East, one game behind the Dallas Cowboys.
We flew back early on Monday so Furio could pick us up and get Diego home in time for the Monday Night Football game. I have no idea how much money changes hands in these games, but I know Diego just can't miss a game.
My unnamed secret source was at the Four Seasons Supper Club on Wednesday evening. She saw Ana Demetrius, the Long Island councilwoman; David Dewher, the Staten island councilman: and Mike Miller, the Manhattan councilman sitting at the bar chatting while Samantha Emeris was singing on stage.
Mike Miller wound up sitting at a table with a female that she later identified as a Erin Morgan, a Social Services worker that has been hounding Sam about her son Devin. I saw this woman there a few weeks ago with Samantha's father. Mike is a super nice guy, and I'll wager that he was trying to help Sam deal with this situation.
My sources tell me that Angela Black did indeed fly over to Paris with the handsome, debonair, and no doubt wealthy, Thomas Quinn in his private jet. I can't wait to hear the results of that trip.
On Saturday night I spent the evening at the Four Seasons Supper Club bar with Diego. This was a very interesting evening with Mike Miller chatting with that social worker, Erin Morgan, while Samantha was up there on stage singing.
We were joined by a young woman named Imogen "Ginny" Fielding who turned out to be an old high school friend of Samantha. She says she's a singer, too, and came to New York City hoping to be discovered. A writer named Seamus Clark also joined us at the bar and we chatted a bit. He's also new in the city and seems interesting.
The evening got a little rowdy when Mike tried to convince Erin to drop her investigation of Samantha's past problems. Diego even jumped in and told the social worker that his lawyers would support Sam if they tried to take her son away. He also told her that Samantha was now making enough money to support her son properly and had a nice apartment in the high class Carnegie Hill complex.
When Sam finished her set and returned to the bar, Mike took Erin away to a private table where it appears he's convinced her to drop the investigation. Diego will provide Mike with Sam's financial data and dependable status at the Four Seasons.
Diego had to leave so I stayed planning to share a taxi back to the Plaza Hotel with Mike, but he lingered awhile to chart with Sam a bit.
