This Week's Gossip
Living in the Big Apple is always an exciting experience. It was Joe Black in my bed last Sunday morning when the alarm went off. I had to drag my overhung, but well satisfied, body out of bed to shower and dress to be ready when Diego picked me up for the New York Giants game against the Minnesota Vikings at the Meadowlands. I decided it might be better if I left Joe Black behind. No point of agitating Diego by bringing my Saturday night date along for the game.
What a mess that football game turned into! I sort of sat at the small bar chatting with the handsome bartender and staying out of an angry Diego's way. Eli Manning was terrible, coughing up four interceptions, three of which the Vikings took to the house. (That's a touchdown for those of you that don't follow football) Diego was still swearing in the limo as Furio drove us back from New Jersey.
The Will & Grace play on Tuesday night was everything we hoped for. Yvette was outstanding as Grace in her first role in the United States as she overcame her initial nervousness and was soon adlibbing with everyone else. Mike Miller played Will beautifully opposite Yvette, tossing out some really funny lines. Samantha stepped in with a sock in her pants to play Jack opposite Dami as Karen. For the first time in years, Rachel simply introduced the play then sat in the audience with her current flame, Jon Bon Jove as Kate narrated.
Wednesday night turned into the most exciting day of the week as Anthony Emeris was arrested in Central Park. Samantha Emeris worked with Tammi Hanlin, Eoin Ryan, Jason Maloney and her bodyguard, Donny Gunn to set up a trap for her father. Anthony thought Sam was willing to sign an agreement that would turn her son, Devin, over to him.
While Jason grabbed Devin off the swings near the fountain, Tammi called 911 then risked her life by leaping on the gun Anthony was holding aimed at Sam to knock it free. Eoin had to shoot him in the shoulder, after Anthony punched Donny, to restrain him until the police finally arrived. Lt. Chris Meloni read Anthony his rights, then sent him off to the hospital.
With Denny Crane as his lawyer, Anthony Emeris plead guilty to assault and the abduction of Devin. It's possible that the Feds will not charge him with kidnapping, since this was more of a family dispute, in spite of the fact that he crossed state lines with Devin when he took him to Vegas. Regardless, Anthony will be spending quite a few years in jail when Judge Helen Gamble announces his sentence next week.
I declined Diego's offer to accompany him to Chicago Saturday night to watch our New York Giants face the Chicago Bears. The way the Giants are playing, I don't need to deal with Diego's anger if they lose there. Besides, he'll be sharing an upper box suite with some people that scare me a little.
Instead I spent Saturday night at the bar in the Four Seasons Supper Club. Angela Black, the Citibank president, was there with handsome and wealthy Thomas Quinn. Mike Miller, Seamus Clark and Thomas' pilot, Jason, were also in attendance as Samantha returned to the stage as the Four Seasons singer. I could tell she was happy now as she sang beautifully.
Thomas took Angela out on the dance floor and when Sam finished her set she was followed up there by Seamus. I thought Sam was cute as she sort of asked Mike Miller if he danced. They wound up out there too as Seamus put on quite a show. When he played his guitar and did an Irish reel, Thomas had to teach Angela how a reel is really done.
I made my way home alone for a change and plan to spend a few hours on line at my favorite chat room, the Pleasure Palace, after I fax in this column.
