This Week's Gossip
Last Sunday Diego woke me up early so we could enjoy breakfast with several of his Philadelphia friends in the Park Hyatt Hotel before joining them in Joseph "Skinny Joey" Merlino's suite atop Lincoln Financial field. The banter regarding the important game between the Giants and the Eagles was heavy, along with the betting.
I had to laugh when Joey offered some action with his favorite lady, Jenny, to Diego in a wager if Diego would put me up in case the Giants lost. Michael Ciancaglini, Joey's lawyer, kept bugging me to agree, and after a short conversation with Jenny, I said, "Sure, what the hell!"
The game was close all afternoon, with Philly leading 7-6 at the half. Eli Manning found Plaxico Burress for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter and my Giants took the lead, 13-10. As the fourth quarter began, the Giants added a field goal to take a 16 to 10 lead and Diego was grinning at Jenny. Sure enough the Giants held on to win the game 16-13 in a thriller. Diego was grinning as he collected their money and we took Jenny with us back to the hotel.
I spent Tuesday night at Rachel's Creative Arts Theatre watching them do that Sex and the City play where they were playing with the Rabbit. Yes, the BOB! The battery operated boyfriend! The vibrator with a "twist" and even rabbit ears. I know, I own one! Even Kate, the narrator, was laughing and making comments.
It was fun watching Samantha, as Miranda, blush. And Mike, playing Mister Big, teasing Yvette, as Charlotte, while Jason watched from the audience sitting beside me. Charlotte sure did love that Rabbit once she tried it out. The adlibs were fantastic. Doni played Bernie Turtletaub, the strange guy that Dami, as Samantha Jones, tried to dress up as her current man. At least Doni was getting some sex, until Samantha gave up on him.
Saturday night I spent the evening having dinner with Ben Bravio at the Four Seasons Supper Club. We sat in one of the quiet corner booths where we could watch Samantha Emeris sing a really cute Christmas song. Even Thomas Quinn sang a Gaelic Christmas song to Angela Black as they sat at the bar. Mike Miller was there, as usual, chatting with Sam after her appearance on stage.
Sam's song was a take off of that famous Twelve Days Before Christmas song. Here are a few of the cute lines that went something like this.
The first day after Christmas My true love and I had a fight. And so I chopped the pear tree down and burnt it, just for spite. Then with a single cartridge, I shot that blasted partridge. The second day after Christmas I pulled on the old rubber gloves, and very gently wrung the necks of both the turtle doves.
On the third day after Christmas my mother caught the croup. I had to use the three French hens to make some chicken soup. The four calling birds were a big mistake, for their language was obscene The five golden rings were completely fake and turned my fingers green. The sixth day after Christmas, the six laying geese wouldn't lay, So I sent the whole darn gaggle to the ASPCA. On the seventh day, what a mess I found The seven swans-a-swimming all had drowned.
The eighth day after Christmas, before they could suspect, I bundled up the eight maids-a-milking, nine ladies dancing, ten lords-a-leaping, eleven pipers piping, and twelve drummers drumming, Well...actually...I kept one of the drummers. I wrote my true love "We are through, love!" And I said in so many words "Furthermore your Christmas gifts were for the Birds!"
Very funny. After dinner, I led Ben over to the bar where we said hello and goodnight before we left. Ben stopped by for a nightcap, but I sent him home. I need to be up early tomorrow morning since Diego and I are going over to the Bada Bing to meet up with the Sopranos. They will be attending the Giants big game against arch rival Washington with us at the Meadowlands tonight.
