Daily Report

It's been ten days since Emily Addison disappeared and there is no sign of her. While waiting I started interviewing all the people that were receiving gifts from Emily and also the names on her Blackberry and her computer email.

Of course, Jason Maloney was first. We already had Jason's DNA and semen data from back several years ago when he was unjustly accused of raping and murdering Betty Chapman in 2004. In that case it turned out it was Betty's husband that murdered her and tried to blame Jason for it. Jason's semen didn't match what Jeff found in Emily's bed, and his answers to all my questions satisfied me that he wasn't involved, just there to give her the requested massage, something he'd done a few times before.

Next I took Lindsay Davis' present over to her place and had her open it. Inside was a sexy nightgown that she had seen together with Emily at Victoria's Secret. In fact, Lindsay showed me a similar nighty that she had planned to send Emily. Mutual taste it seems. I didn't need to ask what else those two enjoyed together. Lindsay said she had no idea who might have abducted Emily, but promised to let me know if she learned anything from her private sources.

I confronted Diego Farina in his Four Seasons second floor office in a similar fashion. When he opened his gift it turned out to just be an expansive silk tie. He said, to the best of his knowledge, Emily didn't put out. He had a solid alibi, since he was out of town the day Emily disappeared, plus there was no apparent reason for him to abduct her since she was a very cooperative member of his Genovese Board of Directors. He was concerned for her welfare.

I did attempt to locate Anne Heche since there was a present there with her name on it. I finally reached her by phone in Alaska where they were filming her TV show, Men In Trees. She gave me permission to open the gift where I found three tiny silk thongs. Obviously, Emily had lots of girlfriends. Maybe we're looking for a male that wasn't pleased when the pretty lady wasn't willing to…..  as Diego said…. put out.

I'm halfway through the rest of the list of names, with no suspects so far. Mayor Bloomberg has called me twice, putting on pressure for us to find her. Being a police detective isn't all the fun it appears on those TV shows. It's often a time consuming grind like this, and very frustrating when you can't solve a big name case like this.

Daily Report

I was sitting at my desk in the Robbery/Homicide Division room when the call came through. It was Jeff Mallard, one of our major Crime Scene Investigators. He asked me to join him at Emily Addison's 5th floor Apartment at 400 Gun Hill Rd., Baychester in The Bronx.

He said that apparently Emily has disappeared under what appears to be foul play. I made the drive over there in under an hour to find Jason Maloney there with Jeff. Jason was the man that placed the 911 call and remained there when the squad car arrived. The police officer called for CSI back up and Jeff responded to the request.

Jason claims that Emily had scheduled a massage for Friday, but when Jason arrived the front door to her apartment was unlocked and ajar. He walked in calling out her name to find the living room a mess and no sign of her. The police officers agreed that it looked like a struggle had taken place and they called in the CSI team.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg called her place a few minutes after I arrived, saying she failed to show up for a council meeting. He was instantly just as concerned as we were, since she never missed those meetings.

The situation was rapidly looking like an abduction, and possibly a murder, so I arranged for an APB (All Points Bulletin) to have the police watching for Ms. Addison. Jeff kept going through the apartment looking for fingerprints and blood spatters while I looked around.

He sealed copies of all the finger prints he found. He also did find a few blood spatters on the sofa where she was working, but he couldn't determine exactly how fresh they might have been. He also found semen stains in her queen size bed, but again nothing fresh enough to relate to the violence noted in the living room.

It appeared that Emily had been wrapping Christmas gifts when she was surprised by the intruder. There were wrapped gifts for names I recognized, one in the process of being wrapped was apparently for Anne Heche. It was a tiny, sexy, black lace thong that made Jeff and I both smile. There were packages already wrapped up for Diego Farina, Lindsay Davis and Diane Neal, well known New York City people.

I noted the names on all of the gifts and also the names on her Blackberry which Jeff had found on the floor, a list of people of interest if Emily didn't show up by tomorrow.
