ANOTHER flame update

Sorry for not posting last night, but I was exhausted.

Thank you so much for the thoughts and prayer!!

Here is the latest:

flame's blood sugar is under control, so that is the least of their worries.  Fortunately, her new doctors are diligent, so when she was not improving as she should, her doctor had the lab "throw out the net and see what comes back".  She has severe pancreatitis.  That was causing the pain.  She is being given nothing by mouth in order to give her pancreas a chance to rest and heal. 

The dehydration  has caused her kidneys to partly shut down.  They are still pushing fluids and have added lasix to the mix.  At 11 pm, her output was a "little" better.  The fluid build-up from the kidney problem has caused a "flutter" in her lungs.  They think when her kidneys start working better, this will correct itself also.

She is scheduled to see a pulmonologist and a nephrologist today.

She is getting good care.

Please keep praying.  She isn't out of the woods yet.

Sis... flame, you and G are in our thoughts and prayers... I am really glad she has someone who seems to have a higher IQ rating in the medicine field and knows what they are doing, this is definitely a plus... Please tell her that I am thinking about her, that I love her dearly, and I am bundling up a sackful of huggles for when she is able to get them herself.... ~smiles softly and sends you tons of huggles and strength~ love you all... also tell her that I KNOW she is more stubborn than me, and she needs to kick her stubborness into overdrive to get herself better, or I WILL find a way to get to Nashville to kick her ass into gear... ~evil grin~

Again, thank you for all the thoughts and prayers!!!

We did not drive to Nashville today, but have been in touch with her doctor and her nurses several times.  She is still heavily medicated and pretty much out of it.  Her heart rate has gone down from 160 on Tuesday to 115 today.  That's good news!!  She is still running a fever of around 101.  Her kidneys are still behaving erratically.  The kidney doctor and the lung doctor were in today.  Both said that there is no need for their intervention at this time, but if they are needed, they've done the preliminaries and can intervene quickly.  Other than that, she's pretty much the same.

We'll be driving to Nashville when I get off work tomorrow.  We'll know more then.

It sounds likely the Dr's are thinking the same as I am.... which is be prepared if necessary but otherwise, allow nature to take its course.

This is a very good thing indeed. *S*

We just returned from Nashville with good news!!

flame was fairly alert.  She carried on short conversations with us, cracked a couple of jokes, and even smiled several times.  She asked her nurse to wash her hair this morning, which she did.  She asked me to bring the Infusium tomorrow to try to get the tangles out.  Her temperature is normal.  Her blood sugar is stable at 97.  Her heart rate is down from 160 on Tuesday to 105 tonight.  Her kidneys are putting out much much better.  She still is not allowed anything by mouth.  There is still a little concern about her lungs, but they seem to be better too.  I think we have turned a corner, though she is still a very sick puppy.

Anyone who says prayers don't work, obviously isn't too observant!!!  Thank you for the thoughts and prayers....and please continue them!!!

I agree... a corner has definitely been turned. The rest will take time and will also take a mindset of "Failure is not an option" on her part.

Her innards most certainly took a hit from all this... but the body has an unbelieveable way of seeming to repair itself with time. I think and have faith that all will be well in time.

Besides... that girl has a spanking due her at the Gathering!!! *W*
