This Week's Gossip
Well, last Saturday night, or should I say early Sunday morning was interesting to say the least. In last week's column I advised my readers that my old time "friend and cohort", Mary McGrath, and my new "friend", Barbara Barton, accompanied me home from the Four Seasons for a nightcap.
Needless to say, one thing led to another. While I wrapped up my column and faxed it in, they opened a bottle of the same wine we had been drinking all night at the Four, a Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay, Vintner's Reserve 2003. They were already getting to know each other better when I joined them on the sofa in front of the burning fireplace.
I now have a 46 inch wide screen TV up there over the fireplace and I popped in a DVD triple X movie for us to enjoy. We woke up together in my king sized bed around ten Sunday morning, so we showered, dressed and went down to the Palm Court for brunch on Mother's Day. Mary did get a phone call from her 20 year old daughter who's now attending college in Paris.
Mary has agreed to stop using her old pseudonym, Denise Thompson Burrett, in her sexy romance novels that will now be published by Barbara through Barton's Publishing. I love reading her work.
Saturday night I headed down to the Four Seasons Supper club to meet my old friend Anne Heche. Barbara Barton was already there sipping her first glass of Kendall-Jackson chardonnay and chatting up Gino when I arrived five minutes later.
The surprise visitor turned out to be Mister Pussy himself, Mitch Saylor. . I hadn't seen Mitch for months and, of course, he was totally new to both Anne and Barbara. Barb was already curious after Mitch kissed the back of our hands as I introduced him.
Mitch grabbed the bar stool right next to Anne. He told Gino he would pick up the tab for the ladies that night, and commenced hitting on Anne. I leaned over and whispered in Barb's interested ear a few well known facts about the Tongue Man.
Seamus Clark showed up around that time and I had to laugh at the look on Gino's face as Seamus ordered a Guinness with a shot of Jameson to make a boilermaker. That's where they drop the shot in the "beer". I'm not even sure it would sink in that thick Guinness.
Anne told Mitch she was already spoken for, nodding at me, so he jumped up and walked around to the bar stool along side Barbara. They didn't waste much time there negotiating since my whispers already had Barb interested. I had to grin as Mitch paid the tab and walked Barb out on his arm. Yes, that would be an interesting night for her.
Anne and I finished the last glasses of the wine Mitch had paid for, then headed back to my place where I could finish up my column and fax it in. Stayed tuned for next week where I'll be waiting to hear how much Barb enjoyed herself.
