Darwin Award for stupidity... or something of the like...
« on: December 19, 2008, 04:24:15 PM »
JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell and Adolf Hitler Campbell.

Good names for a trio of toddlers? Heath and Deborah Campbell think so. The Holland Township couple has picked those names and the oldest child, Adolf Hitler Campbell, turns 3 today.

This has given rise to a problem, because the ShopRite supermarket in Greenwich Township has refused to make a cake for young Adolf's birthday.

"We believe the request ... to inscribe a birthday wish to Adolf Hitler is inappropriate," said Karen Meleta, a ShopRite spokeswoman.

The Campbells turned down the market's offer to make a cake with enough room for them to write their own inscription and can't understand what all of the fuss is about.

Adolf Hitler Campbell will be getting a cake from Wal-Mart this year.

"ShopRite can't even make a cake for a 3-year-old," said Deborah Campbell, 25, who is Heath's wife of three years and the mother of the children. "That's sad."

Others, such as Anti-Defamation League director Barry Morrison, applauded Shop Rite's decision.

"Might as well put a sign around their (the children's) neck that says bigot, racist, hatemonger," said Morrison. "What's the difference?"

I can see both sides. But yeah, the right call was made. The choice of names definitely speaks something about the parents. But that doesn't mean I applaud refusal of service based on names. I imagine the last 60+ years hasn't been fun for any Austrian with the last name Hitler, family of Adolf or not. Never condemn any monniker based on the actions of an individual.

that ranks right up there with the phillipine women who gave birth 4 hours after I did naming her daughter Lochia...... which is the technical term for the bloody vaginal discharge a woman has after delivery.

In the last 60 years, I believe that Adolf has been the most least popular Boys name.  Adolf Hitler killed the name, no one ever names their kids that, unless they are purposefully out there to piss people off.  And considering the other names of their children, I would say they are out to piss a lot of people off.  Those kids will either get their asses kicked in school when other children realize what Aryan Nation and Adolf Hitler means, or when they go to get jobs in a big city and the HR person is of a different race or religion.  Yeah.. I doubt they will be very popular.

Truly.  Everyone does have the right to free speech, this is a given  What is sad though is that even though it is just a name, these people probably didnt bother to think of their childrens future.  They certainly will have it rough.  No matter anyone's good intentions later in the childrens life, sometimes people forget that children themselves can be mean.  Simply look to the school shootings and these were for alot less and sometimes just for revenge against bully's.

Suffice it to say, the parents just created quite a problem for themselves and their children.

I got thrown down to the ground and dog poop thrown on me.. just because.. by three older boys who just saw nothing else to do besides do that to me.

Needless to say, they never did it again when my Mother found out and cornered our huge Italian Mobster Principal in his own office and gave him an earful.  They never even looked at me again.

Given enough time names such as shown will be accepted as readilly as other less than desirable men and women bearing names that are used today.

I'm sorry the kid didn't get a cake. it isn't his fault that his parents are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY left of center in the mental department.

actually, regaurding the last name of Hitler..... Adolf had a brother who did not approve of his brother was not on his side at all, he even went as far as relocating his family here in the united states.... so to speak the hitler name does live on.. but here is the thing.... after the fall out  of WWII the US or Britain had the entire remaining hitler family change there last name.. and the few that live now more than likely do not know there a relitive of Adolf Hitler... So you can look to your friend, your buddy any one, and un knowingly they might very well be the blood of Adolf Hitler so many years past that, so the blood live on through Adolfs Brother.. just not the name...

all brought to you by useless knowledge from watching the history channel
bye bye!

Huh. I never knew that. Turns out, Adolf's fathers real last name was Shicklgruber, not Hitler. According to said History Channel documentary, and Wikipedia of course, there are only three remaining people in the world with his bloodline, three great-nephews.

I think woobies right.... its not the kids fault that thier parents named them that...

and whats wrong with it? its just a name...

you worry about someone that has a name of someone thats been dead for years...

If someone names their kid "Albert Einstein Smith" is anyone gonna get their panties in a bunch? what about naming your kid "Marilyn Manson Smith"? see my point?

Ok.  Uhm.  I still wouldn't name my kids Aryan Nation or Adolf Hitler.  Albert Einstein Smith.. I would go for that... Marilyn Manson.. not so much.. again.. psycho killer in the name.. Manson being the name there.

But I still don't think parents should do this to their children.  Life is already hard for kids depending on if they look funny, have speech impediments, or don't wear the right clothes, nevermind adding the hardship of being named after racism, and one of the worst Men in the entirety of the world.

I also disagree with celebrities naming their kids stupid crap like.. Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee), Kal El (Nicolas Cage, and yes, that is Superman's real name), Audio Science (Shannyn Sossaman, the chick  from A KNights Tale), Moxie Crimefighter (Penn Jillete from Penn and Teller).

These names are utterly ridiculous.

Please.. if your last name are the following, do not torture your children.

Apple or Cane : Do not name your child Candy or Caramel.

Leer: Crystal Shanda is out.  Your child will murder you in your sleep.

Do NOT name your child Satan, Lucifer, Moon Unit, or Tampon.  This is not... let's find the first object we can and name our kid.

Yeesh.

As an addendum to my previous post for anyone who may think.. "They are celebrities, they are kooks, and we don't really KNOW them..."

A friend of mine had twin girls.. and named them Blossom and Buttercup.... after.. Dun dun dun dun!  Two of the Power Puff girls.

If he was my father.. I would have killed him.

how about crazy spelings... cause I know the cause for unique ness.... like spelling Jaden.... Jadyn.... cool that I can handle... most times something like that makes a ambigious name seem well... either more male or more female... like Andy.... lots of girls named Andrea go by andy.... but if you say Andi.... its more girly...

so if you want to name your child Alexis... dont use alyxs....

and if youre last name is sheets... dont name your twin daughters polly and ester....

also.... friut names shoudl be out.... so Apple (gwen paltros kid) should be stricken from the naming books...

I think if you say your future childs name to ten people and get more then two "omfg are you serious?" you need to pick another name

but amber it could have been worse... had they been triplets... well bubbles would have been a strange name to explain...
