a 15 year olds gift
« on: March 20, 2009, 01:00:06 PM »
I'm not trying to make anyone cry here....but with her birthday having just come....I wanted to share something my dad sent me today.  It just really kinda struck home hard especially since my son now follows the legacy and has enlisted in the military. I Miss my friends.. I miss the people that were family to me.....I won't forget.

thank You for posting this, Mistress.

my son did three tours of Iraq...the Marine 1/5...and came back home wounded.  he is doing well, now, and has found a wonderful woman...smiles...i hope to be able to hold grandchildren soon.  i had the honor to carry the ashes of my fathers brother to Minnesota, and was handed his flag.  my carryon bag was actually searched on the way back to CA...the emptied shells that the honor guard had fired in his honor alerted the metal detector.  when the inspectors found the folded flag and the little bag with the brass casings, they passed me through, and saluted...not to me...but to him, and all like him.  if you have HBO, please watch 'Taking Chance'...i cried so much, Art had to hold me for a long time.  the homecoming photos of the video were so wonderful, i saw men seeing their babies for the first time at Camp Pendleton, and the proud looks of their wives.  we were there for the homecoming of the company, all three times, and we were all one.  take care.

~wipes a few tears~
That's just so moving. They're all so brave and i wish there was so much that i could do to show my gratitude for doing what they all do.
i've been so blessed that all of my friends who have toured in Desert Storm and other tours have all returned home.

Master Raz, i'm sure i speak for all of us when i say we count our blessings that You returned. thank You for all You did.

Thank you, Mistress for sharing that. It was truly moving.

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.

..you can not grasp it.
You can  only touch the  fire and be seared by it,  even destroyed  in it's embrace, but never can you hold it, not for a heartbeat.
