Oh believe me, I laughed my head off.... afterwards. It's still embarrassing, but it's also so darn funny I can't resist telling people about it, at least those who know enough about music to "get" it. We didn't have any strings in our school band, we were all winds and percussion, but I can well imagine our director would have been mortified to catch anyone eating during class, much less during a performance. Which was the difference bewteen our director then, Mr. Hageman, and my first director, Mr. Z -- as in Zimmerman, Tsuya's father. Mr. Z would have thrown things lol... He was notorious for that, got fired 3 or 4 times for it in fact, but he was so bloody good they kept hiring him back....

...*G*...I was taught to 'Behave Badly' in a pit orchestra by my private teacher, Mrs W.  In HS, I had my first 'pit orchestra' experience, it was for the Musical, "Kismet".  During the intermission, one of us string players would go get some 'refreshments'.  Mrs W did it first, and she returned with a HUGE bottle of orange juice, and 10 paper cups!   ;D  We string players drank a bit during the halftime, and then during the performance, we would pass the bottle around to refill the cups.   ::)  We all alternated afterwards...I was very nervous the first time it was my turn.   ???  I got to the counter, and nervously said..."Ah, I am with the orchestra, we need a bottle and 10 cups."   :-\  He just grinned at me, and set the items in front of me...he was already set up...and I handed over the cash and took the refreshments back to the pit.   :P

My most memorable moment with the refreshments was after a performance.  Mrs W had paid for the bottle, and she had handed it to me to hold as she went to speak to other musicians...it was still about 1/8th full.  I was standing there, looking around, and then the actor who played 'Hajj'...the LEAD ACTOR...came up TO ME!!!... :o  He was covered with sweat...and his tongue was almost hanging out.  He smiled, and looked at the bottle, and panted..."Can I have some of that?"  My eyes got wide...if I had paid for the bottle...I would have HANDED IT OVER!  But, my DAMNED SENSE OF HONESTY WOULDN'T LET ME!!!   :P  (He would have sat with me for a while, I believe...and He was a great actor and singer.)  I pointed to Mrs W, and said..."This is her orange juice, please ask her."  He nodded, and took the bottle from me and walked over to Mrs W.

I sat on a chair, watching him chat with her as he SWIGGED the rest of the orange juice, and they were both talking and laughing...and thought to myself..."That could have been MEEEEEEEEEE!!!!" :P

Anyway, "Kismet" is a great Musical, so many songs became popular favorites... :)

...Izee' hears that Rick likes noses...and writes a 'Cantata' for Him... ;D...Izee' was VERY anxious after the performance to see if Ragnar enjoyed it.  Half of the 'Orchestra' were playing barbarian instruments that were badly damaged...and one 'musician' passed out at the end.  Izee' had told him to fill the jug with water, and to drink it to lower the pitch as he blew over the 'mouthpiece'...but a bond had misunderstood the order...and had filled it with very concentrated sul-paga.   :o

Rick did sing the 'Cantata' VERY WELL!   ;D

And now what say we begin the New Year in style with a good laugh?

Q: Whats the difference between the Starship Enterprise and toilet paper?

A: Nothing, they both orbit Uranus wiping out Klingons!

(Those who have been around Gor for 20 years should understand why I posted this joke!)
