Laundry Guidelines

Laundry is done in the river. Make sure you are downriver from where we draw water for our drinking and cooking needs.

Leather and furs are never washed. See the sections on tending furs (coming soon) and leather for their appropriate cleaning guidelines.

We use a bar soap that is safe for the environment. Get your garment wet, rub the soap into it, scrub it against the rocks, rinse, and wring it out, repeating if necessary. There is a special area set up with lines where clothing can be hung to dry.

Please note that laundry from the Medical Wagon will be boiled to ensure the removal of all soap residue. There is a special wagon in the Healers Compund where that laundry is hung to dry to keep it as clean as possible from potential outdoor contamination by plains dust or bugs.
